1) Just war theory

1) Absolute Pacifism
Maximal and universal rejection of violence and war
Moral principles are eternal and unchanging, , no exceptions accepted

2) Selective Pacifism
Matter of degree
Only oppose wars involving weapons of mass destruction
Consequences of weapons/not `winnable'
3) Jihad
Certain acts of war never justified
Innocent people should not be killed
Women/children/elderly shouldn't be killed or hurt
Women mustn't be raped
Property shouldn't be damaged
Poisoning wells forbidden (nuclear weapons)
