Germany wanted to join with Austria but because they were all German
(Germany was not allowed self-determination)
Czechs did not get on well with the Slovaks even though they were in
the same country
Germany and Russia both hated Poland because both had to give up land
to form it
Poland felt that one day they might have trouble from Russia and
Germany
The smaller weak countries that were created had a powerful neighbour
