Biology Unit 4
Topic 5: On the wild side
15. Describe the effects of global warming (rising
temperature, changing rainfall patterns and seasonal
cycles) on plants and animals (distribution of species,
development and life cycles).
Global warming will impact on the climate in many ways.
In Britain a rise in temperature might mean warmer, wetter winters.
Rainfall patterns are likely to be effected.
There may be an increase in the risk of flooding in some areas whilst in other areas the
risk might be drought.
Seasonal cycles may change so that seasons are different in length and intensity.
