Advantages

Explains why some phobias are more common than others
can explain one trial learning of phobias
better explanation than classical conditioning as if it was cc alone we would be equally likely to fear stimulus but that is not the case
helps explain why we dont easily learn to fear modern things that may be dangerous such as electric knives

Disadvantages

evolution doesn't apply to us anymore because we don live in societies where we have to learn to survive against danger ,that means preparedness doesn't explain phobias in today societies
the evolutrin explanation is hard to test for and find evidance for
as a theory ha no evidence from recherche or experiments
cannot explain irrational fears such as chremtophobia the fear of money
