Moment

Vocal skills

  • Hook and Peter fighting
  • Uses physical/vocal skills to portray Hook as the typical villian
  • LINE, TONE, PITCH, VOLUME, PACE
  • Loud volume = 'prepare to meet thy doom' shows how serious Hook is in wanting to kill Peter
  • Low pitch, fierce tone = Shows Heardman creating fear
  • Intonation = Changes the way he says parts of the line
  • Extends the word 'doom' makes it over dramatic like a villain would

Physical skills

Other information

  • BODY LANGUAGE & GESTURE
  • Large movements shown in contrast to Peter's movements = Shows the usual portrayal of a villian
  • Hook attempting to swing for Peter's stomach, but Peter's jumps up quickly = Heardman portrayed Hook as he's trying to kill Peter, but Peter just keeps on humiliating him
  • FACIAL EXPRESSION
  • Angry facial expression, low, drawn together eyebrows with pressed lips = Shows the frustration of not being able to catch Peter
  • SPACE, POSITIONING, LEVEL AND MOVEMENT
  • Positioned in front and above his crew = Shows that Hook's powerful, wants the audience to think that he's the only one who can actually defeat Peter Pan
  • Exaggerated movement = Makes him appear huge and that he's of high status
  • WHAT WAS SUCCESSFUL ABOUT THIS MOMENT?
  • Heardman presents the character of Hook as someone whose often defeated by Peter Pan
  • Shows the character as someone whose disliked by the audience
  • AUDIENCE COMMUNICATION
  • Sheader wants the audience to dislike Hook and see him as a vile, mean character
  • Also, he wants the audience to dislike him for the way he interacts with Peter
  • AUDIENCE RESPONSE/REACTION
  • Audience cheers for Peter Pan which makes Hook unpopular and mean
  • YOUR PERSONAL RESPONSE
  • I thought that Heardman portrayed his character in a way that makes the audience instantly hate him just for his demeanor.
