Natural and Artificial Selection

  • The best or most suited organisms are chosen to breed.
  • Allele frequencies are altered.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the species in question.

  • Humans choose the most suitable organisms in artificial selection whereas the environment chooses for natural selection.
  • Artificial selection is faster than natural selection.

Overall comparison

Both forms of selection are due to variation within a species but humans act as the selection pressure in artificial selection.
