- Maggie is trying to look after granny whilst trying to look after the kids but they aren't listing to her and the house is a mess because Maggie is doing everything at once (opening scene)
- Maggie and the neighbours are talking about Jenny and then they argue about if Mrs Harris's daughter has head lice (Maggie argues with the neighbours)
- Maggie finally takes Bertie to the hospital and they decided to keep him in because he has TB, so Maggie comes back to the house alone
- Isa and Maggie have an argument about how Isa treats Alec and Maggie slaps jenny, when john comes home he takes Isa's over Maggie which then leads to them fighting and john threatens Maggie, so when Maggie tries to get John to see her side of the story he brushes her off
- John and the kids try clean up but don't know where to start while Maggie was out getting food. when she comes back she notices that Ernest's boots are scuffed but they can't afford new ones, she snaps and grabs him, shakes him and slaps him. she then leaves hysterically crying but shortly comes back and blames it on hunger
- It's Christmas eve and the family is listening to music there is an overall happy feel as they wait for John to come home. When John gets home he gives Maggie her gift which is a bright red hat
- john insults jenny about where she got the money from and jenny gets defensive, Maggie watches from the side-lines until she has finally had enough and gets up in John's face for treating their daughter that way when while they were courting they were the same. this embarrasses john and gives Maggie all of the statuses
