Advantages
- They managed to have political stability
- Stresemann's work brought economic recovery and international acceptance for Germany

- 1924 Dawes Plan, the loan of 800 million U.S. dollars
- 1929 Young Plan, agreement that meant reparations could be paid until 1988
- Stresemann improved Germany's foreign relations:

- 1925 Hindenburg was elected President and he was a supporter of the Kaiser
- Economic recovery was completely based on loans from U.S.:
- If the U.S. economy suffered so would Germany--Wall Street Crash
- Many people in Germany wanted to reverse the Treaty of Versailles (and some people wanted to do this forcefully--Hitler)
- Government was spending huge sums on welfare and healthcare
- By 1928, there were serious disputes between Unions and employers
- Farmers were struggling
