HOW THE DEPRESSION HELPED THE NAZIS

  • Showed that the Weimar government was weak
  • Hitler's speeches represented strong leadership - Hitler seemed decisive
  • Nazi policies appealed to people and helped them gain seats in the Reichstag - eg abolish the Treaty of Versailles and conquer lebensraum
  • The Nazi leaders were highly organised as opposed to the Weimar Republic
  • The Nazis promised jobs and food for people
