eukaryotic vs prokaryotic

Similarities

  • both have cytoskelton (eukaryotes more complex )
  • cell surface membrane
  • both have ribosomes ( prokaryotic 70s eukaryotic 80s)
  • DNA
  • both can unicellular
  • both have non-membrane bound organelles
  • peptdioglycan cell wall

Differences

  • DNA is linear in eukaryotes
  • different methods of reproduction - (prokaryotic is binary fusion)
  • prokaryotes don't have nucleus
  • DNA is arranged differently - in a prokaryotes it is folded into DNA and is eukaryotes it is associated with histones
  • eukaryotes also have membrane bound organelles
  • chitin in fungi, cellulose in plants not present in animals- cell wall

Overall comparison

eukaryotes are a more complex cell than prokaryotes
