Diagnostic techniques - Xrays

Advantages

  • Readily available
  • Can be used with a wide range of people
  • Quick imaging
  • Gives good clear image of bones = well defined high contrast images
  • Proven track record
  • Penetrates through materials and view things otherwise not visable

Disadvantages

  • Uses ionising radiation which can cause cancer if you are over exposed
  • Poor images of soft tissues
  • Limit to the number you can have as over exposure is harmful

Evaluation

It can be used for bone fractures, teeth and breast cancer
