Advantages

  • lab study:well controlled variables and easily replicated

Disadvantages

  • lab study:isolates an aspect of behaviour, groups&tasks are artificial, lacks ecological validity
  • deception was used-fully informed consent was not possible
  • results could be based on culture (individualist&collectavist), gender or historical context (american society in the 1950s)

Evaluation

overall, the study was replicated multiple times weighing out different factors such as culture,history and gender and conformity increased/decreased each time.
