- Becomes an intermediary between Napoleon and the animals, delivering orders and, especially, giving them Napoleon's propaganda. He glorifies Napoleon to the animals, and tells Napoleon what the animals say or do (Boxer tells Squealer that he does not believe Snowball was a traitor at the beginning. At the next meeting, Napoleon's dogs go to attack Boxer. Orwell tells us that Squealer "cast a very ugly look at Boxer with his twinkling eyes" before turning to go. The reader can easily imagine him going straight to Napoleon and informing him.
