Analogy when talking about God

Advantages

Shows how language can provide some understanding of God
Hick says that analogy enables us to make some statements about God yet still preserve some mystery
Can be clear

Disadvantages

Duns Scotus argued that analogy is too vague and leaves us unable to understand God and his actions
Can be confusing

Evaluation

Analogy is a good way to talk about God as its clearer and can give us some understanding of God
