Causes

Germany want to expand empire (scramble for Africa)
France + GB agree to French mandate over Morocco (April 1904)
Entente Cordiale
Germany not consulted about agreement

Effects

Algeciras Conference raised tensions between European powers
Showed strength of Entente Cordiale (opposite of what Kaiser thought)
Kaiser humiliated + angered
2nd Moroccan Crisis

Overall summary

March 31st 1905 - Kaiser went to Tangier to promote Moroccan independence + support of Germany. 16th Jan-7th Apr 1906 - Algeciras Conference decided that Morocco was to be part of France's sphere of influence (11/13 agree)
