- Greater interest in constitutional reform
- Considered important that such reform is decided by the people
- Tories less likely to accept change (more conservative) referendums entrench reform so Labour used it to prevent them restoring it against popular consent.
- Especially true of devolution.
- Electorate better informed about politics - better able to make the decisions.
- Internet helps in this regard.

- Good Friday Agreement - message to militant terrorists (on both sides) that peace was wanted.
