  • Reasons why crime was more likely in the 17th century
    • some people were obouisly much more wealthier taht others so were a higly visbale target for robbery
      • More people thrown togther in a crowded place meant more oppotunity for theft and picpocketing
    • increased wealth meant there more valuable goods in homes and businesses
      • Growing numbers of businesses created more opportunity for crimes like fraud
    • many people came to the towns to look for work. if they didnt find it they might turn to crime
    • in large busy towns it was mcuh easier to pass unnoicted and get away with crimes than it was in a small village
