- some people were obouisly much more wealthier taht others so were a higly visbale target for robbery
- More people thrown togther in a crowded place meant more oppotunity for theft and picpocketing
- increased wealth meant there more valuable goods in homes and businesses
- Growing numbers of businesses created more opportunity for crimes like fraud
- many people came to the towns to look for work. if they didnt find it they might turn to crime
