- Aim
- To see if an infant could be conditioned to become frightened of something they previously had no fear of through classical conditioning
- Procedure
- 1 ppt
- 11 month old infant
- A loud noise was created when a metal bar was hit with a hammer causing the ppt to become distressed/afraid
- Represented the unconditioned stimulus and response
- Albert was presented with the rat and as he tried to stroke it a metal bar was struck with a hammer and Albert became distressed
- Repeated numerous times
- Little albert was presented with a white rat and it was observed that he showed no fear of the animal
- White rat represented the neutral stimulus

- After repeated pairings of the NS with the UCS which brought about the UCR it was observed that as soon as albert saw the rat white he became distressed/fearful
