  • Truman Doctrine
    • 1947
    • Was a policy to 'contain' Communism
    • It seem Greece was next in line for Communism
    • Greece was split into the Royalists and the Communists
    • With the help of the British, the king was restored.
    • After Communists troops attack, British troops withdrew
    • Greece then ask the US for help
    • Under the Truman Doctrine, the US provided Greece with arms, supplies and money and the Communists were defeated
    • Turkey: as with Greece, British troops withdrew after the Communists attempted to take over
    • Truman Doctrine supplied them with arms, money and supplies to ensure Turkey regained control.
    • He initiated the fact that the US wouldnt turn to isolationism and will aid other countries
