- The Motor Effect
- A current in a magnetic field experiences a force
- The force experienced by a current-carrying wire in a magnetic field is known as the motor effect
- Increase force by increasing the current or magnetic field
- The force of the wire is at 90 degrees to both the wire and magnetic field
- Reverse direction of current or magnetic field- reverse the direction of the force
- To experience the full force the wire has to be at 90 degrees to the magnetic field
- If the wire runs parallel to the magnetic field it won't experience any force at all
- Fleming's left hand rule
- First= field
- Second = current
- thumb = motion
- A current in a magnetic field experiences a force
