- The human kidney
- The body had two kidneys, the filter the blood, excreting substances you do not want and keeping substances that the body needs.
- A healthy kidney produces urine by:
- First filtering all the blood
- Reabsorbing all the sugar
- Reabsorbing the dissolved ions needed by the body
- Reabsorbing as much water as the body needs
- Releasing urea, excess ions and water in the urine.

- The urine is temporarily stored in the bladder before being removed from the body
- The vena cava is connected the kidneys by the renal vein which carries blood away from the kidney, after unwanted substances have been removed
- The aorta is connected to the kidneys by the renal artery bringing blood containing substance which needs to be filtered by the kidneys
- The urethra is the tube through which urine passes out of the body
- The ureter is the tube through which urine passes from the kidneys to the bladder
