    • The central nervous system (CNS)

      • Transmits messages via millions of neurones (nerve cells) to and from the CNS

          • Governs vital functions of the body
        • Somatic nervous system
          • Controls muscle movement and receives information from sensory receptors
    • A special network of cells, primary internal communication system
    • Two main functions
      • To collect, process and respond to information in the environment
      • To co-ordinate the working of different organs and cells in the body
