- This is the process in which the body prepares the uterus (womb) in case it receives a fertilized egg
- STAGE ONE
- The lining of the uterus breaks down and passes out of the vagina
- Bleeding starts
- Known as "having a period"
- (day 28-4)
- STAGE TWO
- The lining of the uterus builds up
- Layer of blood vessels forms ready for implantation
- (day 4-14)
- STAGE THREE
- The egg is released form the ovaries
- Most likely time the female will get pregnant
- (day 14)
- STAGE FOUR
- The lining of the uterus is maintained
- Awaiting the arrival of a fertilised egg
- If no fertilised egg arrives, the lining breaks down and the whole cycle starts again
- (day 14-28)
- Lasts around 28 days
