  • The menstrual cycle
    • This is the process in which the body prepares the uterus (womb) in case it receives a fertilized egg
    • STAGE ONE
      • The lining of the uterus breaks down and passes out of the vagina
      • Bleeding starts
      • Known as "having a period"
      • (day 28-4)
    • STAGE TWO
      • The lining of the uterus builds up
      • Layer of blood vessels forms ready for implantation
      • (day 4-14)
    • STAGE THREE
      • The egg is released form the ovaries
      • Most likely time the female will get pregnant
      • (day 14)
    • STAGE FOUR
      • The lining of the uterus is maintained
      • Awaiting the arrival of a fertilised egg
      • If no fertilised egg arrives, the lining breaks down and the whole cycle starts again
      • (day 14-28)
    • Lasts around 28 days
