  • The endocrine system.
    • The endocrine system uses hormones to control vital biological functions and works alongside the nervous system.
      • It works slower than the nervous system however, does have strong effects.
    • Glands- Organs in the body that produce hormones.
      • The pituitary gland is located in the brain and is known as the master gland due to its control of all other endocrine glands in the body.
    • Hormones travel within the blood stream.
      • They only affect organs that have receptors for that paticular hormone.
        • Thyroxine is produced by the Thyroxide gland, they work affect organs throughout the body including the heart to help increase Metabolic rates which increase growth.
