  • Specific Heat Capacity
    • The amount of energy needed to heat 1kg of a substance by 1 degree C
    • energy change = mass x specific heat capacity x temperature change
    • Different substances have different SHC as they need a different amount of energy to heat up
      • Energy is transferred to the substance as it heats up and is lost  as it cools down
