specific heat capacity

Specific heat capacity is the way we work out how fast or slow a sustance eg. water heats up. Everything has a specific heat capacity or SHC. basically specific heat capacity is the amount of energy needed to change 1Kg of an object or substance by 1c in temprature. Here are some examples to see what i mean.

Heat capacities of different substances

Substance Specific heat capacity in J / kg °C

water 4181

oxygen 918

lead 128

the greater the number the higer the heat capacity the lower the number the lower the heat capacity
