      • Natural woodlands have been cleared for farming. Afforestation has occured, after which tress are sold for timber and wood pulp to generate a source of local income.
    • Agriculture
      • 80% of the land is farmed with 14% working in this industry. Valley floors provide flat land with fertile soils as a result of  deposits of glacial till. Sheep farming also occurs on the steeper slopes
