    • What were the 3-5 main areas of social/domestic policy?
      • Trade Disputes Act 1906. Liberal party got in a tangle trying to make a bill that gave unions limited power, Labour drew up their own bill and Bannerman accepted it as it was, this was more radical than Liberals had intended. this meant TU's were more or less immune from the law
      • The Mines Act 1908. introduced a maximum 8 hours working day for miners. the first time the government had intervened to regulate the working hours of adult males.
      • Labour Exchanges 1909. Employers with vacancies were to inform the labour exchange so workers could easily find what work was available. not compulsory.
    • What were the 3-5 main areas of Foreign policy?
      • Transvaal and orange free state were granted independence in 1906 and 1907 respectively. Boer leaders were impressed with the speed of this and retained great respect for Bannerman.
      • Russia in the Entente 1907. mainly a desire to settle differences with Russia who after their defeat to Japan didn't seem as much as a threat. Persia was divided between Britain and Russia. Germans saw this as a threat that Britain France and Russia were planning to encircle them.
