- Children who are socialised inadequately have more risk of becoming offenders
- Faulty socialisation means kids do not learn self-control meaning they don't internalise moral values of right and wrong

- Everyone has free will and power of reason
- so if rewards outweigh costs/ consequences, someone may turn to crime

- They ignore wider structural causes of crime such as poverty and social exculsions
