      • Church have taught to no to kill is wrong but still are prepared to fight for their country
      • Quaker believe that war is always wrong
      • Fighting in self desfence is acceptable but fighting without a just cause is wrong
      • Justice peace forgiveness and reconciliation is the best way to prevent War from happening to begin with
    • violence, violent protest and terrorism
      • Christian believe that protest to achieve what is right e.g Black lives Matter
      • No religious teaching promote violence but have different POV on when it will be justified
      • Fighting is only allowed for self defence or defence for faith
      • Terrorism
        • Some use terrorism to get their message across.They make people frightened and push the authority to give what they want.
        • Some would link their cause to terrorism but no religion promotes terrorism
        • It would be seen wrong as it targets innocent people
    • Reason for War
      • Greed: Gain more land resources or deprive enemy of income
        • Warns against greed
      • Self defence: Defend ones country ddefend ones values and to defeat evil
        • Jesus said that retaliation is wrong
      • Retaliation: fight against country that has done wrong or that has attacked you
        • It is Justified if all the other ways have failed
    • Nuclear war and weapons of mass destruction
      • E.g America attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki with nuclear bombs. Japan surrendered thus ending the war
      • The chemical weapon convention made the pproduction illegal worldwide
        • Only God has the right to end life.
        • life should be cared for and preserved
      • Biological weapons are also illegal but many countries have them.
        • It kills many innocent people
        • But it is also seen a deterrent so it also protects them
    • The Just War
      • It must be fought for a just cause
      • Must be declared by proper legal authority
      • It must have a proper intention
      • Must be last resort.
      • Must have chance of success
      • Must be proportional.
      • Should not target innocent civilians, animals, fruit-bearing trees or any other religious people
      • Dead bodies must not be mutilated and prisoners must be treated in a civil way.
      • Soldier must be of sound mind and body.
    • Holy war and religion as a cause of violence
      • must be authorised by religious leaders
      • only to defend their faith
      • Those who took part will gain spiritual rewards
      • use of violence
        • Eye for an eye. so retaliation was justified.
        • Accept jesus teaching that anger and violence is wrong
        • When jesus was arrested he did not resist
        • Must follow the just cause criteria.
        • It must be fought for God
    • Pacifism and peacemaking
      • Pacifist believe that war and violence can rarely be justified
      • Prayer and meditation can help people be more peaceful
      • Quaker are a denomination that strongly supports pacifism
      • Muslims must not refuse peace when it is being offered
      • Muslims seek inner peace through the submission to God will
    • Religious responses to victims of war
      • Need psychological support
      • Need money to live
      • Safe place to live
      • medical helps
      • access to food and clean water
      • A means of earning a living
      • Christian are taught the love thy neighbour as thyself
      • principles such as compassion, eempathy, generosity
