The Problem of Evil: Augustine

View mindmap
  • Problem of Evil: Augustine
    • Defined evil as:
      • "Either God cannot abolish evil, or he will not; if he cannot then he is not all powerful; if he will not then he is not all good"
    • Omnipotent God would eliminate all evil.
    • Inconsistent triad: omnipotent, omnibenevolent, omniscient, evil exists in the middle.
    • Evil does exist however the idea of God must include omnipotence and omnibenevolence.
    • Natural Evil
      • Gods existence = impossible/improbable.
