    • Encoding
      • When information first enters the memory system
      • Information is then put in a language or code that the brain understands

      • Holding information in memory, sometimes for a very long time
      • If this process works properly, we should be able to find this information when we need it
    • Retrieval
      • Recall information from storage. Sometimes this may be difficult but without encoding and storing, we will not retrieve the information
