  • Intermolecular forces
    • Hydrogen bonds
      • An intermolecular force between molecules containg hydrogen and NOF.
      • Strongest of the intermolecular forces.
    • Van der Waals
      • Weak intermolecular forces
      • Caused by atttractions between very small dipoles in molecules
      • Things that effect the strength of the forces
        • The greater the number of electrons the greater the Van der Waals force.
    • Permanent dipole-dipole
      • The small delta charges on a molcule attract oppositely charged dipoles on another polar molecule.
      • IIf the intermolecular force contains permanent dipole-dipole then it will contain Van der Walals
      • medium strength intermolecular force.
