  • Humans and the environment
    • Balancing needs
      • There are many reasons to conserve wildlife. Humans like to visit or live in countryside containing a variety of animals and plants. This variety of life also provides humans with food and other resources. However, humans have have needs that can conflict with conservation.
        • Humans need homes in which to live, and the building of homes destroys parts of the natural environment.
          • Humans need to produce food on a large scale, which means that the natural environment has to be changed to favor the animals and plants that we eat. Natural habitats can be destroyed by people cutting down trees and creating fields.
    • Intensive farming
