- Hitler's foreign policy.
- Hitler wanted people of Germany to be masters of Europe & return territories Germany lost due to the TOV.
- Germans hated the Treaty of Versailles & saw justification in Hitlers demands. People thought he had courage to take risks.
- Hitler believed the Treaty was unfair & every country including Germany had the right to defend itself.
- 1935- Germany reintroduce conscription breaking the Treaty. Built tanks, aeroplanes & subs.
- Main aims: -Unite all German speaking people. -Take over Russia. -Expand German soils. -Eliminate communism. -Kill 'inferiors' such as the disabilitied, jews, and certain ethnic minorities.
- 1933- -Hitler seizes power in Germany. -Germany withdrawals from the World Disarmament Conferance. -Germany withdrawals from the League.
- 1934- Hitler orders rearmament & tells army to prepare for war.
- The Saar Plebiscite (vote) 1935. Treaty gave Saarland to LON for 15 years. A vote was held in the Saar to see if people wanted to return to Germany, 90% did. Hitler celebrated as a victory, a returned territory to German rule.
- Sudetenland Crisis (1938) Crisis erupted when Hitler demanded Czechoslovakia hand over part of it's territory (Sudetenland) to Germany.
- Sudetenland had 3 million German speaking living there. Wanted to be part of Germany.
