- Interested in music at age of 18
- 1707- Handel's first serious opera is performed.
- Was appointed Kapellmeister to the elector in 1710.
- Kapellmeister is the leader or conductor of an orchestra or choir.
- Was given permission to go to London for a year.
- Spent rest of life in London where he wrote some of his finest work.
- Became Royal composer for George the first in 1711
- wrote Water Music (1717) for kings triumphant procession up the Thames.
- When he grew older he began to lose his sight
- Died in 1759 and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
