- Method:
- 1. prepare food sample and transfer 3cm cubed to a test tube
- 2.prepare water bath at 75 degrees
- 3. add some benedict solution to test tube
- 4.put test tube in water bath for 5 mins
- 5.if reducing sugar the solution will change from blue to green/yellow/brick red
- the colour depends on how much sugar is present

- 1. make a food sample and transfer 5cm cubes of it into a test tube
- 2. add a few drops of iodine solution and gently shake tube
- 3. if starch is present the solution will change from brown- orange to black / blue black

- 1.prepare a sample of food and transfer 2cm cubed of it to a test tube
- 2. add 2cmm cubed of biuret solution into the test tube and shake it
- 3. if protein is present the solution will turn from blue to pink/purple

- 1.prepare food sample of 5cm cube and put in test tube
- 2.use pipette to add drops of sudan III into test tube and shake it
- 3. if lipids are present, mixture will separate into 2 layers
- top layer will be bright red
