- Finding Percentages of Amounts
- Some percentages have short-cuts eg. 20% = 20/100= 1/5 so just divide by 5
- To find a percentage out of a number other than 100 eg 26% of 52 . you would just divide 26 by 52 then times it by 100.
- Multiply by 100 to change to a percentage eg. 25 percent of 40 25/40x100 (%)
- Change the percentage to a fraction out of 100 and multiply
- Some percentages have short-cuts eg. 20% = 20/100= 1/5 so just divide by 5
- Sometimes you can build up to a percentage eg. 17 1/2 % of £80 = 10% of £80 + 5% of £80 + 2 1/2 % of £80. in these equation you can just half the 10% to get 5% and half the 5% to get the 2 1/2 %
