    • WORK DONE to an elastic object = stored as ELASTIC POTENTIAL ENERGY
      • Apply force & it may stretch & change shape
      • An object that can revert to its ORIGINAL shape = elastic
      • Elastic potential energy = converted to Kinetic energy when force is REMOVED
        • Object returns to original shape
    • Extension = directly proportional to FORCE
      • F = k X e
        • F = force (N)
        • k = spring constant (N/m)
        • e = extension (m)
      • Stops working if force is big enough
        • Small forces, force & extension = proportional (straight-line)
        • Is a MAXIMUM force object can take = LIMIT OF PROPORTION- ALITY
        • If force increases past this point, material = PERMANENTLY STRETCHED
          • Is a MAXIMUM force object can take = LIMIT OF PROPORTION- ALITY
