    • AO1
      • Lies on bed in loose clothes.
      • Receives muscle relaxant and anaesthetic.
      • Current 70v - 130v passes through brain for 1/2 a second.
      • Place electrodes on the patients temples.
      • They recall nothing afterwards.
      • Used to be used to help schizophrenia sufferers.
      • Is now mainly used for depression.

      • Not in the right state of mind...
      • So cannot establish cause and effect.
    • Protection of Participants.
      • Used as a punishment...
      • So should not be used as a treatment.
    • Not appropriate as...
      • Individuals are not in the right state of mind.
      • Individual do not remember it.
    • Not effective in treating schizophrenia, however, it is effective when treating depression.
