- Coding
- Is used so that the data takes up less space on creen and in storage and it is easier to check.
- Example: using an M or F to enter male of female to a system.
- Encoding
- Putting data into a specified format so that an ICT system can understand it.
- Advantages: it compresses data, and the data can be read on different software packages.
- Image Encoding- images are encoded so that they can be stored on an ICT system. This determines how they are presented.
- Sound Encoding- sound is encoded so that it can be stored onto an ICT system, else it woul not exist on a computer system.
- Data- Is meaningless details that lack revelance. In the form of words, numbers, images or sound
