  • CT scans
    • Computerised axial tomography
    • They produce high resolution images of soft and hard tissue
    • Detectors form a two - dimensional slice through the body
      • Multiple two dimensional CT scans can be put together to form a three - dimensional image
    • An x-ray beam is fired through the body from an x-ray tube.
      • This is then picked up by detectors on the opposite side.
    • They use lots of x-rays to distinguish between tiny variations in tissue density
