- The 16 CORE activists experienced violence and arrests but did help set off non-violent direct action.
- Greensboro sit ins 1960
- Were successful as they helped to erode Jim Crow laws and it helped to set up SNCC as well as getting the organisations to work together and make new Grass route leaders.
- The Freedom rides 1961
- Was not very successful as a lot of the riders experienced much violence, though King did use it to get the organisations working together.
- March on Washington 1963
- Was a huge success as all of the organisations worked together which helped to get lots of southern schools desegregated, 300 cities to integrate transport and get the next civil rights/voting rights bill through.
