  • Old major=Lenin/Marx
    • More likely to be Lenin as In the novella they preserve old major's skull- this parallels to Lenin's preserved body in actual history
    • Characters
      • Snowball=Trotsky
        • Stalin and Trotsky worked together for a little bit before Stalin had Trotsky permantly exiled- this parralles to when he is chased off the farm by Napoleons dogs
          • Used as a scapegoat through the rest of the book to blame for failures on the farm- like destruction of the windmill
      • Mr.Jones=Tsar Nicholas II
        • Overthrown  in 1917- Bolsheviks took power
      • Squealer= the use of Stalins Propaganda
        • In the novella he is described as an excellent speaker- this acts as his parallel to propaganda- he talks Napoleon and the pigs out a lot of things i.e boxers execution, and the milk and apples
      • Napoleon=Stalin
      • Pilkington=The leaders of Britan
      • Boxer=working class
        • This is shown through his hard work and determination 'I will work harder' as well as his stupidity as the working class at the time were not very intelligent and so followed Stalin blindly- paralleled by his maxim 'Napoleon is always right'
      • Benjamin=Orwell himself
        • Benjamin is an old donkey on the farm and never falls for Napoleons leadership- he is quite a wise character and also seems to know a lot. This parallels to Orwell's knowledge on the matter of the revolution as he has lived through it
      • Mollie- The bourgeoisie
        • Mollie craves the attention of human beings and loves being groomed and pampered. She has a difficult time with her new life on Animal Farm, as she misses wearing ribbons in her mane and eating sugar cubes. She represents the petitbourgeoisie that fled from Russia a few years after the Russian Revolution.
      • Moses the raven- Organized religon
      • Fredrick=Leaders of Germany- in particular Hitler
        • One event in the novella is when Pilkington pays for timber with forged notes- this parallels to the destruction of the nazi-soviet non-aggression pact
  • Mr.Jones=Tsar Nicholas II
    • Overthrown  in 1917- Bolsheviks took power
