  • Cell Division - Mitosis
    • Makes new cell for growth and repair
      • When a body cell divides it needs to make cell identical to the original cell
      • This type of cell division is called mitosis
    • Mitosis is when a cell reproduces itself by splitting to form two identical offspring
    • Dividing
      • If the cell gets a signal to divide, it needs to duplicates its DNA
      • The DNA is copied and forms X-shaped chromosomes.
      • The chromosomes then line up at the centre of the cell fibres pull them apart
      • Membranes from around each of the sets of chromosomes, these become the nuclei of the two new cells
    • Asexual reproduction
      • Some organisms reproduce by mitosis eg strawberry plants
      • The offspring have exactly the same genes as the parent
