- Cell Division - Mitosis
- Makes new cell for growth and repair
- When a body cell divides it needs to make cell identical to the original cell
- This type of cell division is called mitosis
- Mitosis is when a cell reproduces itself by splitting to form two identical offspring
- Dividing
- If the cell gets a signal to divide, it needs to duplicates its DNA
- The DNA is copied and forms X-shaped chromosomes.
- The chromosomes then line up at the centre of the cell fibres pull them apart
- Membranes from around each of the sets of chromosomes, these become the nuclei of the two new cells
- Asexual reproduction
- Some organisms reproduce by mitosis eg strawberry plants
- The offspring have exactly the same genes as the parent
- Makes new cell for growth and repair
