- The SU INTERPRETED the currency reform as a COMMITMENT to DIVIDE GERMANY & WRECK the EAST GERMAN ECONOMY
- The BLOCKADE is INTENDED to FORCE the WESTERN POWERS into RENEWED negotiations over the future of Germany
- STALIN wanted to try and show his ability to EXERT POWER
- WANTED USA to WITHDRAW & have COMMUNIST LEADERSHIP
