  • Causes and effects of climate change
    • HUMAN CAUSES
    • NATURAL CAUSES
  • Pollution
  • Greenhouse effect - burning of fossil fuels have increased the amount of co2 in the atmosphere
  • Over Population
  • water shortages due to changes in rainfall paterns
    • Cement production - Cement is made from limestone which contains carbon.
  • crops suffer from lack of rain and hot weather
  • Areas have become too hot or dry to inhabit, leading to migration and overcrowding in other areas
  • Farming - livestock including cows produce a lot of methane
  • Deforestation (cutting down of trees) - When trees and plants are chopped down, they stop taking in CO2 releasing them into the atmosphere.
  • Volcanic Activity -  Major volcanic eruptions eject large quantities of material into the atmosphere,, some of these particles reflect the suns rays back out to space so the earths surface cools,, volcanoes also release CO2 but not enough to cause global warming alone.
    • Orbital Changes - The way the Earth moves round the suns changes,, these changes affects the amount of solar radiation (how much energy) the earth receives,, if the earth receives more energy it gets warmer.
