    • Arson is found under S1(3) of the Criminal Damage Act 1971
    • An offence is committed by destroying/ damaging property using fire

        • The case of Miller explains arson can be committed through an omission, defendant accidentally started a fire, and failed to do anything to prevent damage
        • Maximum penalty is life
