    • Who is the speaker in the poem?
      • Poets often speak through personas, real or imagined, personal or impersonal.
    • What is the poems setting?
      • Where does the poem take place- past, present or future?
        • How does this setting influence the atmosphere of the poem?
    • Subject matter- what is the poem about?
    • Look at the imagery in the poem!
      • Poets use figurative and metaphorical language that take words beyond their literal meanings!
        • Choose a couple of the most interesting images in the poem- what is the poet doing and how does this image create and atmosphere in the poem?
  • Key words- Alliteration, Ballad, Personification, Rhyme, Enjambment.
