- 5.5: Stock Forms of Components
- Stock Forms/Types
- Through-hole Componets
- Wire legs through holes in cuircuit board.
- Placed on plain side legs through soler on track side
- Useful for small batches and hobbyists. Easier to insert components incorrectly
- Through-hole Componets
- Sizes
- Resistance: how easy or hard it is for electricity to pass along a wire
- Ohms Law: V=IR
- Stock Forms/Types
- Tolerances Ratings and Values
- Manufactuers choose which values to produce
- There would be millions otherwise

- Standard Resistor Series: E12
- Per Interval (1-10, 10-100, 100-1000) resistor are made in 12 stock sizes. Standard tolerance of 10%. Most values are covered.
- Someimes higher tolerance resistrs are needed.

- Designers then design arround these values.
- Surface Mount technology
- Coper tracks have a thin layer of solder on all the connections.
- Componets are designed with legs that sit flat to the board
- All the components are l;aid in place and then the board is heated to fix all the components.
- Faster, no drilling, faults harder to trace, good for robots to work with
- Restistors in series and paralell
- Resistance: how easy or hard it is for electricity to pass along a wire
- Sizes
- Ohms Law: V=IR
